This large-scale urban development project aims to transform Ulaanbaatar’s ger areas, currently characterised by substandard housing, high pollution, and climate vulnerability, into affordable, low-carbon, climate-resilient, and livable eco-districts. Increasing private sector investment, the initiative targets the delivery of 10,000 affordable green housing units and the redevelopment of 100 hectares of ger areas into integrated, sustainable urban districts. Sustainahaus supported the project as EDGE Auditor in collaboration with Sintali, contributing to improved living conditions in Mongolia and aligning with the Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) vision for green, competitive, and inclusive cities, as well as Ulaanbaatar’s long-term climate resilience goals.
